Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that it would transfer Rs 230 crore directly to the bank accounts of 23 lakh daily wagers with the aim of alleviating economic hardships faced by them due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As per a statement by the UP government, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Wednesday, transferred the sum to the daily wagers bank accounts and said, “Be it the dream of building a house, proper treatment for illness, cost of education or the need of financial help in any mishap, the state government is there with you at every step.”
Adityanath said that the UP government had done very well in containing the coronavirus pandemic. He said that while the entire world was grappling with the virus, the state was successful in bringing the infection under control through the collective efforts of the government and its people.
“UP has a total population of about 25 crore and today states with half of our population are recording as many fresh COVID cases on a daily basis as we have in total,” Adityanath claimed, adding that the state has the best recovery rate in the entire country. Bihar and Madhya Pradesh with recovery rates of 98.05 per cent and 98.03 per cent have a marginally better recovery rate than Uttar Pradesh’s 97.97 per cent, he argued. The Chief Minister also appealed to the people to follow Covid protocols and vaccinate themselves as soon as possible.
