In pics: India’s flagbearers at the Olympics over the years

India has to date fielded 16 flagbearers in the Olympics and for the first time in its participation history, India will see two flagbearers, in boxer Mary Kom and hockey captain Manpreet Singh at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Former athlete Gurbachan Singh Randhawa (in turban) carried the Indian flag the last time the Olympics was held in Tokyo, in 1964. Athlete Shiny Abraham-Wilson was India’s flagbearer at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, and the first Indian woman to hold the flag up.
