Popular South actor Priyamani, who was recently seen in the Amazon Prime series The Family Man, has had the validity of her 2017 marriage to Mustafa Raj challenged in court by the latter’s first wife. Priyamani and Mustafa Raj had tied the knot in a private ceremony on August 23, 2017. However, Raj’s first wife Ayesha has claimed that even though they have been separated since 2013, their marriage was never legally dissolved.

“Mustafa is still married to me. Mustafa and Priyamani’s marriage is invalid. We have not even filed for divorce and while marrying Priyamani, he declared in the court that he was a bachelor,” Ayesha reportedly told a news publication.

Mustafa Raj and Ayesha have two children. Mustafa said that this is an attempt at extortion, as he is providing child support. He refuted the allegations, saying, “The charges against me are false. I am paying the children’s maintenance to Ayesha regularly. She is simply trying to extort money from me. My marriage with Priyamani happened in 2017, why was Ayesha quiet for so long?”

Ayesha, meanwhile, has said that she had taken legal recourse only after more amicable solutions to resolve the issue with Mustafa had come to nought.

As per Mustafa’s claims, he and Ayesha were living separately from 2010 and got divorced in 2013.

Priyamani, who is a cousin of actor Vidya Balan, became known to pan-Indian audiences after appearing in The Family Man with Manoj Bajpayee. She has appeared in several Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam movies and is the recipient of a National Film Award.
